As our strategic business focus evolves to serve the needs of customers throughout the world, our Corporate Giving Committee (CGC) is evolving our strategy as a corporate citizen in the communities where MEDRAD operates. Our efforts to date are primarily targeted in the region of our global headquarters near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
We prioritize by following general criteria of organizations that demonstrate:
We also support programs:
A substantial portion of MEDRAD's contributions program is employee-directed, through a percentage match of the employee pledge amount for the United Way campaign. We also consider requests from the Points of Light - a committee of employees that raises funds and coordinates company volunteer events -- to match company-wide collections for employee-related or world emergencies. We do not currently match individual employee donations.
The remaining contributions are made on a discretionary basis through the selection process outlined below. Cash contributions from MEDRAD are strategically focused within two broad categories, company-aligned and community-aligned programs.
Health Initiatives/Organizations Aligned with Major Clinical Interests
MEDRAD is interested in providing support to groups that complement the work
done in MEDRAD's areas of clinical interest: radiology, cardiology and oncology.
MEDRAD maintains recruiting and research relationships with several educational institutions. We periodically provide support for special projects, programs and conferences within these organizations above and beyond ongoing relationships that might exist.
Community
As one of the largest employers in Pittsburgh's northeastern suburbs, we proudly
support the hospitals, fire departments and civic activities in the community
where our corporate headquarters is located.
Economic Development
We support projects that assist the greater Pittsburgh area to thrive as an
economically vibrant, competitive community.
MEDRAD supports development of the cultural amenities that enhance the communities where our employees live and work. Culturally dynamic communities are essential to attract the employees required for us to remain competitive in a global landscape.
Education projects that target local universities and technical education are of particular interest.
Most of MEDRAD's support for human service organizations is given through its matching gift support to the United Way. MEDRAD may, on occasion, provide special support to Pittsburgh area-based organizations that provide food, shelter and clothing.
There is significant competition for MEDRAD philanthropic resources. Unfortunately, many worthy causes cannot be funded. The following list of activities are not supported as a matter of general practice:
