Ian - Corporate Recruiter Q: What first attracted you to MEDRAD?
A:
Well, I was a corporate casualty I guess you could say. I was gearing up to do an internship here in the city and was laid off…my first experience of being laid off. My current roommate at the time was interning at MEDRAD. He told me about an open position within the finance group for an internship. I applied and received the position and I was able to come in and actually do three rotations as an intern, working within the finance group, supporting the sales and service function. I was able to work on some projects for starting the new office in Sao Pablo, Brazil. I was also able to work on a lot of financial planning and financial analysis, which I think really added value to not only my undergraduate career, but also as I progressed through my master’s degree and eventually came back into MEDRAD. During the time I went back and pursued my master’s degree, I still kept in touch with MEDRAD. I kept in touch with the employees here just to see how things were going along. I was always happy to hear, especially when MEDRAD was awarded the Baldridge Award, that those types of things were still going on; the performance excellence was still there. It just kept me intrigued in order to come back once I finished my master’s degree.

Q: How do you add value to MEDRAD?
A:
In my current position, I think I add a lot of value by recruiting top talents that come into the company. Hopefully they can make some difference in some of our products and help out our end customer. I think that by sourcing and recruiting that top talent, I really help to add value down the line. Not only just for me, but also for the rest of the employees here in the company.

Q: How do you make a difference at MEDRAD?
A:
I make a difference at MEDRAD, I think, just by working hard every day, coming to work and making sure that I can source the top talent that we can find in the area, and across the country in order to once again add value back into the company. (I make a difference by) helping out with our products, our end customer, and even making the hiring managers that I work with happy that they’ve brought in someone that can really put forth the effort they’re looking for.

Q: Why choose MEDRAD?
A:
I think someone would choose MEDRAD, and why I chose MEDRAD, is because of the people I work with, the company culture, and a lot of the employee satisfaction that comes along with working on the job. Not only do you have great benefits, but you also have a great corporate culture that’s a lot of fun to work in. We work hard, but we also have a lot of fun doing our jobs.

Q: What is your most memorable experience at MEDRAD?
A:
I think I have a couple, not just one. One of them is when I was actually interning with MEDRAD and I was traveling on a study abroad and I had a chance to go into our Osaka office in Japan and meet with the professionals that work over there. The next two relate to my current position in which I was one, able to sign my offer letter, knowing that I was a full time employee at MEDRAD, and the next one was when I was able to generate the first offer letter to hire a new candidate. Those were two of the most memorable experiences of the time that I’ve been here so far.
