Q: What first attracted you to MEDRAD?
A: A friend recommended MEDRAD saying it was a great company to work for; and it was well known throughout Pittsburgh. Once I found more information on the company I saw that they had won numerous awards. Some of which stuck out to me were “Best Places to Work” and the Malcolm Baldrige Award. I had interned at a company that had also achieved the “Best Place to Work”, and knew that the companies that were awarded that title were serious about how they treated their employees. Additionally, with my education in Supply Chain I was aware of the prestige that the Malcolm Baldrige Award carried with it.
Q: How do you add value to MEDRAD?
A: One way that I add value to MEDRAD is by helping the New Product Development design teams select good quality suppliers. By being involved with the product design from Stage 1 or 2 of the program I help add value to MEDRAD by ensuring we are getting top quality suppliers, fair pricing and utilizing best business practices. My relationship with our approved vendors creates a healthy atmosphere and communication link between the design team, supply chain and the supplier.
Q: How do you make a difference at MEDRAD?
A: There are numerous ways that I feel I make a difference here at work. Coming into MEDRAD everyday and working hard to help achieve my part of the supply chain. Also, I make sure that I don’t simply do my job and accomplish my tasks but that I go above and beyond, providing the NPD teams that “extra” amount of service (through follow ups, phone calls, and helping out wherever I can – even if it isn’t in my job description).
Q: Why choose MEDRAD?
A: At MEDRAD you know that the products and services that we provide help save lives. I’m sure that everyone knows someone whose life was helped by a CT Scan or MRI. It feels good to know that you’re working for a company that is helping people. Additionally, after interning with MEDRAD I made the decision to apply for a full time position because I had seen how MEDRAD cared for and gave back to its customers, employees and the community. Finally, the people at MEDRAD made the decision easy for me. After my internship I knew that this was where I wanted to work because the people (employees) made the difference.
Q: What is your most memorable experience at MEDRAD?
A: I’ve had a lot of memorable experiences since I started working for MEDRAD. One experience that particularly sticks out in my mind was my first “business trip”. I had been one of two procurement representatives involved in an industrial design firm supplier selection, for a new product development program. We had narrowed our selection to two potential suppliers, the “shortlist” – both in the Chicago area, so we then went to visit both “candidates”. It was a neat experience to go see the suppliers with the design team, a side benefit was that I had never been to Chicago before and it was nice to “explore” a new city.
