Thrombus is an issue and the GuardDOG System provides an option for infusing and holding a therapeutic or diagnostic fluid at the site where treatment is needed most. With its quick inflation and deflation, the GuardDOG System provides users with the control they need to manage flow and achieve occlusion in the peripheral vasculature.
Positioned proximal and distal to the balloon, two marker bands allow for proper placement of the balloon in the vessel.
The soft, compliant, CO2 filled balloon facilitates occlusion in 3-6mm vessels, increasing opportunities for users to treat a range of conditions. The GuardDOG System can be inflated, deflated and repositioned up to 3 times, providing enhanced flexibility for treating multiple vessels and segments.
The GuardDOG System is based on a 0.035" guidewire and is quick to position with easy steps for inflating and maintaining occlusion. The system consists of an occlusion guidewire incorporating a 3-6mm occlusion balloon and an inflation device pre-loaded with CO2. The 0.035" wire can be delivered through any 0.038" diagnostic catheter to a distal peripheral treatment site.
Once the occlusion guidewire is in place, the inflation device is used to evacuate, inflate the balloon and crimp the wire. This seals the wire, maintaining balloon inflation to provide temporary vessel occlusion. Standard intervention tools can be passed over the 0.035" wire to the treatment site.
Simply cutting a small section of the crimp tube allows the CO2 to escape, resulting in deflation of the balloon. Under normal blood pressure, the GuardDOG balloon deflates quickly, allowing for rapid reperfusion.
The unique GuardDOG System design allows for three inflations and crimpings during a single procedure, improving efficiency during both routine and complicated procedures.
The specially designed soft and compliant balloon at the distal tip of the guidewire can temporarily occlude peripheral vessels between 3 and 6mm in diameter. The GuardDOG System uses less than 1 atmosphere of pressure to occlude flow. Its 260cm working length increases options for access sites and reaching distant lesions.
