MedicCO2LON is the next generation in automated CO2 insufflators developed in consultation with leading CT colonography centres worldwide.

The MedicCO2LON insufflator is designed to administer carbon dioxide to the colon and regulate colonic distension, in preparation for and during a CT colonography procedure, and supports optimal colonic distension whilst minimising patient discomfort.

Benefits of MedicCO2LON:

  • An innovative LCD touch-screen interface allowing users to make instant changes to pressure and flow, thus minimising patient discomfort.
  • Default settings that can be tailored to individual user preferences and saved for use at a later date.
  • A combination of user customisable setup options, automated dual safety valves, and an audible alarm enhances safety during insufflation procedures.
  • A wired remote control enables fine tuning of system settings during procedures.

Automated CO2 Insufflation in CT Colonography (CTC)

To achieve optimal distension, automated CO2 insufflation is often recommended during CTC procedures because it:

  • Results in negligible post-procedure discomfort.1
  • Causes less abdominal cramping than insufflation using room air.2
  • Is efficient in colorectal cancer patients with or without severe luminal narrowing.3
  • Operates at a lower infusion pressure than manual insufflation.4

ESGAR Consensus Statement on CT-Colonography

The ESGAR Consensus Statement on CT-Colonography states that for optimal colonic distension:

  • CO2 is the distension agent of choice5
  • Automated insufflation of CO2 is optimal5
