Increased Patient Safety and Throughput in CT Suites

MEDRAD PRES is easy to use and allows placement of IV Catheters in a remote location, reducing preparation time spent in the Scan Room.  MEDRAD’s unique HandiSTRIPS™ quickly and easily secure the IV catheter and extension set on to the patient, and can reduce the number of components for each procedure.  PRES reduces the risk of ruptures that can result in a leak of contrast media, contamination of the room and personnel with contrast media and blood, or the need to replace the IV catheter.¹  PRES helps achieve compliance with current FDA recommendations relating to preventing rupture of vascular access devices when used with power injectors by ensuring that the pressure from the power injection does not exceed the pressure rating on the extension set.²

 PRES:

  • Uses a Swabbable Valve to enable multiple sterile accesses to patient’s IV catheter
       -  Positive displacement valve minimizes blood reflux in catheter
       -  Tested for microbial ingress according to FDA regulations
  • Is easy to connect to patient’s IV catheter with one hand using a rotating luer
  • Has an orange line on the tubing that makes it easy to identify as pressure-rated and MEDRAD-approved for use with CT injection systems
  • Also serves as a standard extension set for infusion/gravity flow applications

MEDRAD HandiSTRIPS make securing PRES quick and easy and are like having a third hand when preparing for a CT scan.  They safely secure the catheter and pressure-rated extension set to the patient, and can be used to secure a bandage at the end of the procedure.

  • Specifically designed with the right texture, length, adhesive, and pliability to quickly and easily secure IV components in a hectic environment.
  • Easy to apply and remove from the patient, even while wearing gloves.
  • Reduces steps and time for each procedure.
  • Innovative design enables aseptic technique when securing components to the patient.
  • HandiSTRIPS help achieve compliance with current CDC guidelines to improve sterility when placing the catheter.³
