John Friel
President and Chief Executive Officer

John P. Friel has been President and Chief Executive Officer of MEDRAD, INC. since 1998. He has been a leading architect and prime mover of MEDRAD’s worldwide strategies for two decades, with particular emphasis on sales and marketing, international expansion, and research and development. Under John’s leadership, since 1998 MEDRAD has:

• Achieved a 15% corporate annual revenue growth
• Created 800+ new jobs
• Expanded domestic manufacturing capacity three times
• Added manufacturing operations in Australia and China

Prior to being named CEO he was Senior Vice President and General Manager from 1995 to 1998; Executive Vice President, Sales and Marketing from 1989 to 1995; and Treasurer and Vice President, Business Development from 1986 to 1988. Prior to 1986 he held various financial management positions with MEDRAD and MEDRAD/Intec Holdings, Inc.

Prior to joining MEDRAD, John was an independent consultant for the International Trade Commission and the American International Group, and Senior Accountant with Deloitte Touche (formerly Touche Ross & Company) in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

John serves on the board of directors of the United Way of Allegheny County, the Pittsburgh Technology Council, the Allegheny Conference on Community Development, the Pittsburgh Regional Alliance, the Pittsburgh Tissue Engineering Initiative, the Hillman Cancer Institute, the World Affairs Council of Pittsburgh, the American Productivity & Quality Center, and the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award Board of Overseers.
